Wrath of Typhon performed a monster set at The Depot on Friday night. Fueled mostly by tracks from the new Kingdom of Fear album, the band was on fire! Ripping through tune after tune like a runaway freight train, the show was full throttle to hell. Before we knew it the aural assault was over and Wrath had left the crowd wanting more, more, Livermore!

The Wrath gang was slow to leave the stage amidst the chanting masses when a suspicious shout for ‘Give Us Back the Eye we must have it’ was heard from the audience. The request piqued the interest of the band and after a brief huddle the crowd quickly realized, they weren’t done yet! Click one, two, three, four — “Without it, without it, It’s Useless, We’re useless” roared from the PA speakers and we were all seeking what the future sends… In an odd twist, after the first verse, Jason selflessly hands the mic to MeanMan of York, who happened to be in the front row, to take over vocal duties.  Tonar and AJ did not hesitate in belting out their MeanMan brand, call and response version of the vocals and the band was genuinely entertained. Jason wrapped up the tune with the exclamation, “It’s what I see” to end the set.

‘Give Us Back The Eye’ is a deep track from the debut album ‘Speak from the Fire‘ and one we had never heard Wrath play live. The back story here is that MeanMan of York had covered the tune and even included a studio version of the number on their latest album ‘Hey Ewe!‘.

“Ours were not the greatest vocals in the world, it was just a tribute. We have got to get these bands together again”, said Tonar with raspy voice after trying to match Jason’s vocal intensity.

Wrath of Typhon appeared to be energized by their new tunes and delivered a great final performance of 2017.  This impromptu cameo performance by MeanMan is the closest the two bands have come to sharing the same stage for some time. A Wrath of Typhon and MeanMan of York reunion could be a realistic goal for 2018.

The Depot bill was headlined by Mentors with opening support from Thousand Pound Destruction and The Company Corvette.

Give us back the eye

Without it, without it
Its useless, we’re useless
We seek what the future sends

Without it, without it
Its useless, we’re useless
What it will tell, and how it will end

We see to be like To be what we see We see to be like To be what we see

Without it, without it
Its useless, we’re useless What you may have to defend

Without it, without it
Its useless, we’re useless
What it will tell, and how it will end

We see to be like
To be what we see
We see to be like
To be what we see, is what I see

Give it, given in to give it The truth is in the eye

Defeat, reflect, inflection
Mirrors stare to stone
Cloak, beast and struggle

The blood holds the secret
The eye has the victim
