Oktoberfest was alive and well at Grace Lutheran Church this weekend.

We had the brats, we had the bier, but the special guest band, Dockenspielers, truly put the event over the top. This 20-piece brass orchestra brought the nostalgia and energy of traditional Oktoberfest celebrations to the social hall at Grace Lutheran in Red Lion. Great food, refreshing drinks, and wonderful fellowship were the perfect complement to an afternoon of authentic German music.

Dockenspielers is a Munich-style Blaskapelle dedicated to preserving and celebrating German musical heritage right here in the Red Lion area.

In the video below, we’ve captured their performance of the traditional German favorite “Alte Kameraden” (“Old Comrades”). It is one of the most famous and widely played German military marches in the world and remains a staple of brass band performances and Oktoberfest celebrations today.
