Today Is The Day 2026 Spring Tour hits Shiloh American Legion #791 with support from MeanMan of York and Orphan the band

Today Is The Day are true noise pioneers—decades deep into a career built on total conviction and zero compromise. Their sound is intense, unpredictable, and emotionally raw, driven by Steve Austin’s unmistakable vocals—half sermon, half unfiltered transmission. It’s the kind of band that has always divided listeners: you either get it, or you don’t. And they’ve never cared which side you land on.

From the very beginning, Today Is The Day carved their own path—grinding through small tours, underground venues, and DIY circuits, building a devoted following one show at a time.

Their early demo How to Win Friends and Influence People caught the attention of Amphetamine Reptile Records (AmRep), earning them a spot on the legendary Dope, Guns & Fucking in the Streets compilation—a major stamp of credibility in the 90s noise-rock scene. From there, they released their debut album Supernova on AmRep, setting the tone for a career defined by fearless experimentation.

After a run of releases with AmRep, the band moved to Relapse Records—another powerhouse label known for pushing heavy music forward. In 1997, they unleashed Temple of the Morning Star, a landmark album that remains essential listening. By 1999, Austin assembled a lineup featuring bassist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor for In the Eyes of God—both of whom would go on to form metal giants Mastodon.

Throughout their career, Today Is The Day have shared stages around the world with heavyweights like Motörhead, Helmet, The Melvins, Morbid Angel, Converge, Napalm Death, Neurosis, and Eyehategod—cementing their place among the most respected bands in extreme music.

Their latest release, Never Give In—issued through Austin’s own Supernova Records—shows a band still evolving. It blends their signature chaos with a more refined approach, layering samples and textures over a solid rock backbone while showcasing more deliberate, introspective songwriting. For example, the opening track, “Divide and Conquer,” drops you onto a fast‑moving train, with the uneasy sense that something is already in motion—and it may be too late to stop it. Haunting vocals and mysterious layers of guitar create a constant tension, subtly pulling at the otherwise steady ride. It’s a record that rewards repeat listens, revealing new depth with each spin. Check it out.

Decades in, Today Is The Day remain relentless. Their journey—from underground roots to global stages—makes this rare, intimate performance at an American Legion hall in York something special. For local fans, this isn’t just another show—it’s a chance to experience a cult legend up close, in the kind of setting where bands like this truly thrive.

Orphan

ORPHAN is a mathy, metallic hardcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Let the experimental energy continue. Orphan delivers stormy, eclectic rhythms that can shift direction without warning. Needling guitar runs scratch at your ears, while the vocals come across intense—almost confrontational.

At an Orphan show, emotions run high as the band constantly pushes and pulls the listener in every direction. Take Hypothermia Waltz from their debut album Nothing Lives Here Anymore—a haunting track where captive, uneasy vocals ride a crashing wave of restless rock.

The band draws you in with a forward‑leaning groove, only to descend into darker territory—blending tension, storytelling, and controlled chaos. It’s the kind of dive that leaves you oddly relieved to resurface.

Spoiler alert: they bring you back to safety—but only after putting you through the wringer. Join us early to experience Orphan live, because this is a journey you won’t forget.

MeanMan of York

tough enough

Sturdy local rockers, MeanMan of York deliver something raw and grounded—songs that stick with you long after they end. As a power trio, they move the room with brawny vocals, dirty low‑end grooves, and riff-heavy guitars that blur the line between grit and atmosphere.

Out on the Pennsylvania and Maryland circuit, they’ve built a reputation for showing up ready—leaning into a modern working‑class blues sound that feels both familiar and worn in the best way.

A staple of their live set, Mind Bender from their Crapper album plays like a slow-burning warning. What starts as a driving rock groove begins to twist, pulling you into a darker headspace—where illusions of something better come at the cost of clarity and control.

Like the best of their material, it doesn’t hit all at once—it creeps in, settles, and lingers.

Get there early and let MeanMan of York pull you into it.

Final Word

This is the kind of show you don’t catch twice.

Today Is The Day in a small room, backed by the raw force of Orphan and MeanMan of York—this is heavy music the way it’s meant to be: loud, close, and unforgettable.

Show up early. Stay late.
York gets loud on May 22.
