When the stars align and a rock show takes you over, band by band you fall deeper into the spiral of beer consumption—unknowingly following the whim of every act and their own brand of groove. The flow of libations pulls you further into the rock ’n’ roll web of the ultimate party.

On this rare occasion, eight rock bands take over South County Brewing Barcade and Taproom, pouring a full complement of small‑batch craft beers—hazy IPAs, pale ales, lagers, and even a cider—all flowing freely from the taps for a fee.

Buckle up for a full day of drinking and rocking.

2026 Hard Rock Hangover Run of Show listing

I arrive at South County Brewing Company in Fawn Grove around noon on Saturday, still recovering from a drinking warm‑up on Friday night. The sun is shining. Sunglasses donned. I wander the grounds, checking out the stage and sound equipment, until I inevitably stumble into the taproom for a kickstart to a new party day.

I peruse the draft list and am immediately overwhelmed—in the best way possible—by the selection. Thirteen craft brews on tap. It’s at this moment I make a decision that will define the rest of the day: I will curate my drinking excursion by pairing the appropriate beer with each band on the bill.

This feels like a responsible plan at the time.

Let’s get started.

Undead Express

The stage is warming, and Undead Express is about to get the crowd moving with an upbeat, rolling blues attack. My day begins with a Day Rider IPA—a citrus‑forward session beer at a modest 4.2% ABV, serving as a soft entry point to a long day ahead.

The first sip is a welcome fix for my withdrawn body. Smooth.

This is a good rock band. The songs are straightforward, and the band clearly has fun with musical themes. Somewhere in the set, the concept of a zombie stripper—portrayed in a song of the same title—catches my attention. As the set wraps up, I remain morbidly curious. Check it out…

This is going to be a good day.

Stella Was Taken

Okay, I’m warmed up now. Blood is pumping. Time for another beer.

Stella Was Taken is setting up, and I know I’m in for a treat. I’ve known these fellas for some time, and here we are again—assembled and amplified.

Beer selection is critical at this point in the journey. Dark Thread is the obvious choice—a robust porter matching the mystery and tragedy of Stella’s abduction. This set warrants an increased 6.8% ABV.

Midday chocolate.

Patient riffs quickly stir into a frenzy. Manic vocals will have you rebelling, and you don’t even know why. Fresh energy surrounds the resurgence of these legacy punk rockers.

Get here early.

This set will be a blur.

A beer a band—I’m on a pretty good pace. At this point in the day, I’m ready to set a record.

Supersonic Goat Head

Next up: Supersonic Goat Head (SGH).

I can feel the volume and heaviness increasing. The band’s imagery makes the choice simple—851 Helles Lager as I head into a vortex of fire.

The refreshing lager dulls my senses while SGH delivers doom grooves and tales from the depths of hell. Rich honey malt notes. Crisp finish. Enough bitterness to keep it grounded.

Prost!

What In the City in the Night sounds like…

🍺 851 Helles
Lager – Helles | 5% ABV

Under Fallen Skies

Mid‑afternoon. The crowd is growing.

We’re due for some grounding.

Enter Under Fallen Skies, a local favorite. Rock‑steady compositions and soaring guitars pull you into a dream state. A tempered breath of fresh air in the rock scene.

This is the calm before things tilt.

Sonic Bloom IPA is the obvious pairing—soothing notes of melon, pithy orange, mango, and berry with a smooth oat finish.

IPA – New England | 6.5% ABV
Notes of melon, pithy orange, mango, lychee, and berry with a smooth oat finish.

🍔 Important Party Tip

You can’t maintain that beer body on beer alone.

Get something greasy.

Staying power matters.

Check out the Food Trucks!!

These bands just keep getting better…

Double Planet

The room is filling up, and anticipation is building. I finish a food‑truck bite and feel rejuvenated—just in time for the Double Planet onslaught.

Grinding chords hit like a freight train.

I grab a Liminal Moment IPA, perfectly matching the smooth, rounded body of the music. A double dose of planets leaves me existing on both sides of reality.

Past. Present. Loud.

Mission accomplished.

Hard‑hitting rock band.

MeanMan of York

Daylight is fading.

I order a Sundrifter IPA, hoping the white‑wine finish takes the edge off. It’s time for MeanMan of York.

The set is full of surprises and eclectic turns that challenge your balance and musical sensibilities. A powerful vocal trio bestows wisdom along with the noise.

We’re here to ignite your inner spirit and recode everything you thought you knew about music.

Relax with a Sundrifter.

Let MeanMan of York take the wheel.

Thunderbird Divine

Dusk settles.

Thunderbird Divine takes the stage, and the moment demands something serious. I’m weary—but focused.

My next step will be critical to tomorrow.

I commit to Riff Mountain IPA.

Thunderous bass and drums roll in, overlaid with soaring guitar melodies. Vocals command attention while the leads fill the gaps with precision.

Mesmerizing.

🍺 Riff Mountain IPA
IPA – Imperial | 8.8% ABV
Featuring multiple hop varieties.

Burn the Martyr

Darkness falls, and the crowd buzzes.

This is the finale.

I key in on Sound Machine Pale Ale—rich, textured, and dangerous. First sip is smooth. Once the drums start pounding, there’s no turning back.

Driving rhythms. Coordinated guitars. Corey’s vocals hit like sweet lactose creaminess on top of controlled chaos.

Another Sound Machine?

Absolutely.

🍺 Sound Machine
Pale Ale – New England | 6.8% ABV
Extra pale ale brewed with wheat, oats, and lactose. Notes of pulpy orange juice, citrus, and sweet creaminess.

As the night winds down, I find myself desperate for one more beer.

I vaguely remember ordering it—right before my friend Karen offers me a ride home.

The next thing I know, I’m waking up on my couch, repenting in the Lupulin Church of Double IPA. A high‑octane elixir delivering me straight into Sunday morning.

This is how I got my hard rock hangover.

Time to rest up before I do it all again next week.

Rock on…
